Match- Charlotte FC host Toronto FC
Pick- Under 2.5 Goals -106
This first bet seems an easy one. We have two teams that have combined for 12 goals scored over 14 matches, at an even 6 goals apiece. That math adds up to .86 goals per match scored. When we look at the goals these two defenses have allowed, we have similar low numbers, at 1.1 goals allowed per match. If you add up ALL the scoring, for and against, we see 1.9 goals per game average.
Charlotte will be facing an Insigne-less Toronto FC, which has scored once in two games since his absence. I will take Charlotte and Toronto at -106, which seems the LIKELIEST outcome for this weekend’s matchup.
Match- NYCFC hosts New England Revolution
Pick- New England Revolution or Draw +105
This might be a risky pick, but it seems like one that seems likely to pay out. We have two of the least-clinical finishing teams going head to head, when NYCFC’s Monsef Bakrar takes on New England’s Tomas Chancalay. Expect plenty of shots to be off frame in this one, and I think these two Eastern Conference bottom dwellers match up fairly nicely for an upset.
The Revolution, now focusing on the MLS regular season, have gone Draw-Win after starting the season with 4 straight losses. While that isn’t a turnaround to get too excited about, it is a definitive turning point for the Revolution.
The Revolution have the better squad, with stars like Charles Gil and Tomas Chancalay, and they traditionally do average at Yankee Stadium. Historically, they are 4-3-6 against NYCFC in Yankee Stadium and 10-7-8 overall. At +105 this is a serious bet to consider in Matchday 9.
Match- San Jose Earthquakes host Colorado Rapids
Pick- Colorado Rapids or Draw -150
This is a tough bet to make at -150, but there is no team easier to pick on right now than the San Jose Earthquakes. San Jose is 1-6 on the young season, beating only Seattle at home three weeks ago. They have allowed 17 goals, equal to 2.43 goals per match, and play the “new face” Colorado Rapids this weekend.
Rapids, on the other hand, have been all over the place. They are currently 2-3-2 with 9 points from 7 matches, which is a third of the points they scored all last season. Chris Armas’s boys have beaten LAFC at home and RSL on the road, while losing to Portland and Houston. I can’t figure them out, but I know the win-or-draw option for -150 is a solid bet, albeit one that isn’t exactly going to turbocharge your bankroll.
Match- Sporting KC host Inter Miami
Pick- Over 3.5 Goals +162
Sporting KC is having a rough week; their “momentum” from a 3-1 win in Toronto led to 3 first half goals hosting Portland. Then, they allowed 3 straight to draw the match, in what certainly does not feel like a draw.
To the goal scoring numbers, Inter Miami has seen 28 total goals (for and against) in 8 matches, while SKC has seen 22 total goals in 7. That comes out to 50 goals in 15 matches, or 3.33 goals scored per match. If recent trends continue, we should see over 3.5 goals, and get a high scoring match this weekend.
